Profile
Carles Murillo (Barcelona, 1980) is a independent graphic designer, creative and art director based in Barcelona. During 13 years (2002-2015) he has been the Project Director and Lead Designer in the Barcelona headquarters of the prestigious studio Bisdixit, specialized in graphic design for the cultural sector, among others.
His work has been awarded several times in Laus Awards, Daniel Gil Awards (Visual), Art Directors Club of New York, Art Directors Club of Europe, Tokyo Type Director’s Club, etc. and has been also published in various national and international publications.
He understands design as a process that requires absolute passion and dedication. From a concept to a solid idea, C.M. seeks an optimal solution that must be always intelligent and surprising. Engaging on open dialogs with the client/collaborator in every step, he directs each phase of the process, from creativity to production.
He regularly teaches at IDEP Graphic Design School, participates in talks and lectures, workshops and masterclasses, and was a member of the Laus Awards jury.
In 2005 he co-founded ‘Papermind. The After Eight Fanzine’, an independent self-published publication with more than 25 issues published around the world.
In 2010 he was awarded as a Young Gun at the 8th ADC Young Guns edition, the world’s premier showcase for professional creatives 30 years of age and under held by the Art Directors Club of New York.
In 2012 he created Pescao Fresco, a self-initiated illustrated/visual news bulletin, critical of various political and social issues.
In 2015 he starts to collaborate as art director, graphic designer and co-editor with the Colombian based magazine YUCA, a project by Juliana Gomez and Lina Rincón.
